The Turbah of Resulbegu family

The Turbeh of Resulbegu family, also known as the Mezyah’s Turbeh, represents an important part of Ulqin’s cultural heritage, located on the southern side of the green market. This Turbeh is an example of finely carved stone architecture, with four arched columns supporting a hexagonal roof, which rises further into an octagonal shape. Covered with traditional tiles, the tomb measures 4.8 x 4.4 meters. The space inside it rises in a dome, adding to its monumentality.

According to old photographs, next to this turbeh there was another one which was destroyed during the works when the road was widened.

In this turbeh there are two graves with arab-ottoman inscriptions, Arslan Beg and Mehmed Beg, the sons of Jusuf Beg. Later, Selim Beg was also buried in Mehmed Beg’s grave, while Fehim Beg was buried in Arslan Beg’s grave in 1974.

In these two tombstones, there are inscriptions in ottoman, the translation of which is as follows: “He (Allah) is Eternal, Yusuf Beg Zade, May he be shown mercy and forgiven, in need of the Mercy of the All-Forgiving. Arslan Begu, For God’s favor and acceptance of his soul, Al-Fatiha, Year 1326 h”, (1908). And the other tombstone: “My intercession is also for the sinners of my people, forgive me, Lord of the Universe, Lord of the Great Throne, the light of the Qur’an. Brothers who visit my grave, let them give my soul a gift of Al-Fatiha, Jusuf Beg Zade, Mehmet Beg, for God’s favor and acceptance, Al-Fatiha, Year 1329” (1911).
