The clock tower was built by the administration of the Ottoman Empire in 1754, and together with the Beledie and the Mehqeme (court) it constitutes a specific complex, which belongs to the history of that time.
In the middle of the city of Ulqin there was originally a tall square tower that used to serve as a lookout point, on which a clock was later placed. It was destroyed or rather torn in two by lightning in 1845.
